Mentor Ohio City Schools, using PRO-Ohio diagnostics for the first time during 2005 2006, obtained the following stunning results:

When asked what their feelings were about PRO-Ohio, many teachers responded as did this 3rd grade teacher:
"Before PRO-Ohio, I would teach the standards but I couldn't assess what knowledge my students already had when they entered my classroom. I taught the state indicators, but I feel like I wasted a lot of time teaching concepts that were already mastered or did not realize I needed to reteach a concept. I didn't have a tool that provided a "clear" picture of my class. Like most teachers, I would teach the indicators and pray for good state test results. It was only until then I was able to see the results of my teaching."
"I have only used PRO-Ohio for one year, but I have to say that it has made a major impact on my teaching. I now have a clear picture of what indicators I need to focus on as a class. PRO-Ohio is a fabulous tool that drives my instruction. I can see exactly which indicators I need to teach by running a report. I also have a much more detailed data on individual students. I used individual student data for conferences and intervention. I am very impressed with PRO-Ohio and feel it is a fabulous teaching tool."
Note: The reported Mentor data are based upon preliminary data. The number of indicators may actually be 23; the AYP status may be a ‘close call’ and may depend on a 1% margin.
